Levels: Intermediate Advanced

This class is desined  for intermediate and advanced students, not recommended for brand new beginners. Students should be familiar with throwing including the mechanics of centering and pulling on the wheel before joining this class. Each week we will be focusing on a different large vessel (See Below for weekly breakdown). We’ll be working with large amounts of clay anywhere from 8 lbs. and larger. Each vessel form has its own difficulties but we will demystify them and learn different way to work around them. You will learn different ways to center large amounts of clay, troubleshooting techniques, exploring new tools, and manipulating larger forms.

6 Week Breakdown:

Large Serving Bowls, intro to different tools and centering large amounts of clay

Trimming large pieces, using calipers and Stacking cylinders to make large floor vases

Lidded jars (2 different ways) and using calipers

Pitchers (2 different ways)

Bottles  and jugs

Finishing up

Materials supplied by the student:

The intent of this class is to throw with large amounts of clay

50-100lbs. should get you through the course.  Clay will be available to purchase from DFAC at the $35 per bag rate.  This covers your clay and the glaze materials.
