PA113 Introduction to Pastels: Unlocking Creative Potential With Betsy Glass

Tuition  $215

Level: Beginner

Discover the vibrant and expressive world of pastels in this beginner friendly course designed to ignite your creative potential.  In this class you will explore the unique qualities of soft and hard pastels while learning essential techniques for blending, shading, and layering.  Through hands on projects, students will develop their skills in bringing landscapes, still life's, and abstract art to life.  Ages 17 and up.
 

Supply List

Soft Pastels:  We are using Mount Vision pastels in a set of 10. They are available from the instructor for $30 a set. Be prepared to purchase this set at the beginning of the class. (Please do not bring any pastels or oil pastels from Michaels or Hobby Lobby.) 

Hard Pastels: NuPastel will be offered during class, however you may purchase your own basic set through Blick’s or Amazon.

Paper: We will only use one type of pastel paper, UArt 400 series, 9’ x 12’. Available at Blick’s or Amazon.  You may also purchase a sheet from the instructor for $5 each. You will need a hard backing such as foam core or another hard surface for your paper to be mounted on.

Brush, kneaded eraser and black and white charcoal pencils available  to use in class. 

Other Materials: 

  • Tracing paper size 9 x 12
  • Sketch book of any size
  • Masking tape
  • Aluminum foil
  • 70% Alcohol
  • Yogurt or small containers for the alcohol
