PR505 Advanced and Professional Intaglio Etching with Holly Bird

Exploration of traditional, safe methods of etching using ferric chloride with copper plates. This Friday session is for students with considerable etching experience who may expand on more advanced techniques or try mezzotints (Please contact instructor in advance to order plates.) The studio is equipped with both a large 36” and smaller 19” press along with a rosin box and spray paint area for aquatints. This is an oil-based ink class with minimal solvent use.

The studio does have loaners, but please bring your stylus, burnishers and other etching tools if you have them. We provide an inexpensive student etching paper in class, or you may bring in your own etching papers. Please bring a shop apron — messy class.
